Cheating is actually cheating yourself.

Cheating is actually deceiving yourself. While searching for an escape, a person unknowingly leaves behind both themselves and those who love them. It breaks, it destroys. To erase the existing bond means to wipe away trust and love. The feelings you spend with someone else while trying to glorify your pride ignore the woman or man who truly loves you. Yet this eliminates the possibility of someone being able to love again. Because when another person approaches with the same feelings, only the pain of the past comes to mind; one takes a step back, keeping their distance.

The emotional effects of cheating are profound. Trust is lost, self‑esteem is damaged. Inside, anger, sadness, anxiety, and stress accumulate. This leaves marks not only on the heart but also on the body: sleepless nights, loss of appetite, palpitations… Over time, approaching a new relationship with trust becomes difficult; people become cautious, distant.

In the end, cheating is not just betrayal; it opens a permanent wound in a person’s soul. Healing is not easy. It requires time, patience, and self‑compassion. But most importantly, it requires teaching yourself to believe in yourself again.
